The hugely popular sports and entertainment company, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), announced today that they will hold their version of the Super Bowl, Wrestlemania XXIX in New York/New Jersey in 2013.
The press conference was held at the site of next years event MetLife Stadium home of the National Football League New York Giant and Jets. Which will be a big year for the venue since it will also host next years Super Bowl.
In attendance for the press conference was WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Dwayne â€œThe Rockâ€ Johnson and a slew of WWE Superstars to announce the event for April 7, 2013.
â€œWrestleMania XXIX will be an extraordinary event, unlike anything you have ever seen,â€ explained WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, expounding on the vast history of The Showcase of the Immortals that began right across the river at The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. â€œQuite simply, on April 7, 2013, WrestleMania comes home.â€
Dwayne Johnson said about Wrestlemania XXIX and announced he will be at next years event, “My goal right now is to make WrestleMania XXVIII the greatest WrestleMania of all time.” Johnson added, “I will also come to WrestleMania XXIX, and I will electrify MetLife Stadium like never before.”
Wrestlemania will be televised in more than 100 countries and 30 languages. This year Wrestlemania XXVIII is going to be held in Miami, Florida on April 1, will feature the main event of wrestler John Cena vs. Dwayne â€œThe Rockâ€ Johnson.
