2020 Latin Grammy Awards To Air November 19 On Univision

The Latin Recording Academy announced today that the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards will air on Thursday, November 9 at 8 P.M. on Univision. The show will be preceded by the one hour pre-show “Noche de Estrellas,” starting at 7 P.M.

The Latin Recording Academy also announced the theme would be “Music Makes Us Human.” The telecast will be anchored from Miami but will have performances from cities all over the world. The goal of the show is to showcase musical excellence and the power of music, it will embody the essence of people with diverse stories of hope, community, sense of purpose, and celebration.

“This year’s show is a result of great music, carefully curated by almost 4,000 members, skilled staff and everyone’s commitment to the Latin GRAMMY Awards’ process,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.  “The evening will honor musical excellence and the power of music — an art form that allows us to show solidarity, compassion and hope, transcending language, cultural barriers and the current global challenges. We are proud to honor the work of artists who have continued to bring us excellence through their craft and joy in times of despair.”

The majority of the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards categories will be awarded during the Latin Grammy Premiere ceremony before the telecast. Additional details about this long-established afternoon full of unforgettable performances, heartfelt acceptance speeches and Latin Grammy Moments will be announced at a later date.

Acknowledging the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, The Latin Academy, Univision, and the production teams are to adhere to strict guidelines to keep everyone safe. They discussed being hopeful of the pandemic conditions around the time of filming and said if it’s possible, they would consider having a live audience of presenters, nominees, and performers.

The Latin Grammy Awards is Univision’s top-rated and most engaged music broadcast. Last year the show delivered its highest-rated performance in the US averaging 3.4 million total viewers. Additional international broadcasting partners will be announced at a later date.

The nominees for the awards show have not been announced yet & are rumored to be announced towards the middle-end of September.
