The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) is pleased to reveal three additional recipients that will obtain honorary awards. The 4th Annual HCA Awards Ceremony will be virtually broadcasted on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of In the Heights and Hamilton, is to receive this year’s HCA Inspire Award, which is given to a person within the entertainment industry that has inspired others through their work. Chasing his dream, Lin-Manuel Miranda has put aside obstacles and has motivated millions throughout his journey. “Miranda’s work on the Broadway stage has spoken to an entire generation, and his recent work in film and television has only continued to expand upon his talent in additional mediums. Miranda is a pioneer, and his passion shines through in everything that he touches. We are absolutely delighted to honor him during the upcoming ceremony,” said HCA Vice Chair Ashley Menzel.
Receiving the HCA Filmmaker on the Rise Award is writer and director Emerald Fennell for her directorial debut, Promising Young Woman after it was released in January 2020 at Sundance, being the most praised and talked about throughout the year. “Films as bold as Promising Young Woman don’t come along every day, and Fennell as a filmmaker has proven that she isn’t afraid to take risks and push boundaries. As a result, this one-of-a-kind film will be talked about for many years to come,” states HCA Chair Scott Menzel.
Emile Mosseri, composer of Minari, will receive the Artisan on the Rise Award after making great progress as an artisan within four years along with the composition for multiple television shows and films such as Kajillionaire, The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Minari. Mosseri’s career is just getting started, and we are proud to be able to celebrate his achievements as an artisan thus far,” pointed out HCA President Nestor Bentancor.
The HCA will soon be announcing the Trailblazer Award and Filmmaker Achievement Award nominees. Happening on February 2, 2021 will be the organization’s release of the 4th Annual HCA Awards full list of nominees, on the HCA’s official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts beginning at 9 am PT/12 pm ET. The virtual ceremony taking place on Friday, March 5, 2021 will announce the winners.
