Rémy Martin launched its 4th annual Producer Series to search for the next up coming producer with the hottest beats to compete nationally. As part of the competition, the series made its stop in Los Angeles Thursday night for the preliminaries, and was hosted by Jay Claxton (DTLR Radio).
Amateur and semi-professional producers showcased what they had in front of a panel of judges with the top names in the music production business. Judges for the night included: DJ Drama (Super-Producer), Theo Brown (Radio Specialist, 300, Empire, Atlantic, Warner Brothers), Rebe Espinosa (Universal Music Group), and music by DJ Damage (Real 92.3) and DJ Carism (Real 92.3).
ThaKracken, an up coming producer from Dallas, TX made it to the semi-finals next month with a chance to make it to the finale in November. ThaKracken not only had the judges grooving to his beats, but the crowd went crazy during the last round. Everyone in the room was definitely feeling the vibes and of course this played a huge roll in the scores of the judges. His beats left Theo Brown yelling into the mic, “I can feel it!” and it was true because the club was in sync with the music. ThaKracken says it was almost like an outer body experience. “This is something you dream about so when it happens, you seize the moment and just try to take it all in.”
Preliminaries began August 17th and will conclude with its final stop in Seattle on September 23rd, followed by the semi-finals beginning September 28. Rémy Martin Producer Series competition’s Grand Finale will take place on November 9th in Las Vegas. The winner of the finale will take home a $4,999.000 Guitar Center gift card and a Winner’s plaque. The remaining four finalists will win prizes valued between $1,000-$1,500.
