Looks like the writers forgot to include the ‘Swan Song’ in last night musical episode. For Jennifer Morrison is set to leave Once Upon a Time, following next Sundays season 6 finale.
The actress took to Instagram earlier this morning to express her admiration to fans and her character Emma Swan.
“Emma Swan is one of my favorite characters that I have ever played. My 6 years on Once Upon a Time has changed my life in the most beautiful ways.†She wrote on Instagram. “I am absolutely blown away by the passion and commitment of the Oncer fans. I am so honored to have been a central part of such a special show.â€
Last night’s episode marked a mile stone for the savior of Storybook. After 4 seasons, fans of “Captain Swan†(Captain Hook + Emma Swan) finally got to see them married. Of course, Once Upon a Time, wouldn’t be the fairy tale drama that fans have come to love, if after every happy ending a new curse wasn’t enacted. While Emma was able, to keep the black fairy from essentially ruining her wedding to Hook, she was not able to prevent her curse. Which Kitis and Horowitz told reporters at a screening of last night’s episode, will be different.
“We’re well aware that we’ve done a curse occasionally in the past on the show,” Horowitz said. “But this time we’re trying to do a little twist on it.” Eddie Kitis chimed in saying, “I would say that the final battle and the curse are all tied in one, and the first act of the finale will make sense of what we’re doing this time.â€
ABC has yet to order a season 7, however Kitis said they are prepared to have next Sundays season finale, be the series finale if that is the case.
“I would say that if this was the series finale then you would have the usual opinions on a series finale, ranging from the best ever to the worst ever because that’s the internet,” Kitsis said. “What I would say for fans is that it will be complete, so they will not have any dangling threads where they’re like, ‘I can’t believe they!’ We’re not going for a crazy ending that everyone goes, ‘Well, what does that mean?’ And ‘I feel unsatisfied’ or ‘I’m not feeling like you came for the characters’ or whatever. … We feel like we’ve completed this story and the next chapter of Once Upon a Time will be completely different.”
If the show is to return for a seventh season, it will be different according to Horowitz saying,
“I think that by the end of the season finale, a lot of what we’ve been doing for the last six years is wrapped up in a very satisfying way and then we move forward in a way that at the end of it, hopefully you’ll see what we’re hoping to do in season seven.”
As for Morrison, even though her contractual obligations to the show will be over. She told fans in her Instagram post, that she will still attend fan conventions if her “professional schedule allows it.†Adding “If ABC Network does in fact order a season 7, I have agreed to appear in one episode, and I will most certainly continue to watch ONCE UPON A TIME. The creativity of the show runners has always inspired me, and I cannot wait to see the ways that they continue to develop and reinvent the show.â€
Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 pm on ABC
