No Doubt’s lead singer and The Voice star, Gwen Stefani, filed for divorce from husband Gavin Rossdale after nearly 13 years of marriage.
Stefani filed the divorce documents on Monday, Aug. 3 after citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, as reported by TMZ. She apparently checked the box denying Rossdale spousal support. The couple reportedly filed for divorce simultaneously seeking to end their marriage. Stefani and Rossdale are asking for joint custody of their three sons: 6-year-old Zuma, 9-year-old Kingston and 1-year-old Apollo.
The couple confirmed their split in an exclusive statement saying, “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.” They asked that the media respect their privacy during this time. They had no prenuptial agreement and therefore will be splitting their property evenly under California law. According to TMZ, Stefani’s worth is estimated at $80 million and Rossdale’s worth is estimated at $35 million.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan for the March 2015 issue, Stefani hinted the ups and downs of her marriage. She said, “We go through so much together — it’s a miracle that we could stay together this long.” Stefani and Rossdale met in 1995 when No Doubt and Bush went on tour together. After going on their first date, the couple fell in love and married in 2002. In 2004, they hit a rough patch after finding out Rossdale had a daughter, Daisy Lowe, now 24, with former singer Pearl Lowe. At 14-years-old, Daisy Lowe had taken a DNA test and discovered that her biological father was Rossdale.
Despite their hardships, the couple made their children their top priority and ended in an “amicable” split.
