Album Review: Dr. Dre’s Compton

Compton Dr. DreThe Doc is back! Today Dr. Dre just released an exclusive stream of his new album Compton for Apple Music. It is his first full length album in 16 years.

Dre has went back in the lab and created his specialty….great music. It is no surprise that the beats on this album are absolute fire! The intro beautifully illustrates Compton for audiences especially those not familiar or from this city. King Mez & Justus collaborate with Dre on talk about it which is the perfect opening song.

Now let’s talk about the features. Of course Compton’s finest, Kendrick Lamar is featured on multiple tracks. After listening to the bars he drops on Deep Water and Genocide , you’ll want to reminisce on his classic Section 80 mixtape to hear him spit that same kind of flow. Dre has added one of hip hops legends Snoop Dogg on a track, as well as Xzibit. Marsha Ambrosius and BJ the Chicago Kid can also be heard soulfully singing on this debut album.

Dr. Dre says, “My influence run deep like the ocean” and this album is just another reason as to why this is true.
