Paying tribute to the most influential and iconic Latin artists from today, Alejandro Fernández is amongst the many artists to attend the star-studded event. He will be awarded the Premio Icono (Icon Award) at the 6th Edition  Latin American Music Awards. Also presenting a worldwide premiere, “El Potrillo” will jump on the Latin AMAs stage to perform.

Awarding the artists that interpret our life in his songs, the Latin AMAs Icon Award also plays a big role in the Latin America’s history as it considers the musical hero. Aside from being admired by his fans, he also inspires other artists daily with his magnificent talent. 

Being the greatest promoter of Mexican music worldwide, Alejandro Fernández is the son of the ranchero singer, Vicente Fernández. Forming a solo career, Alejandro has captivated audiences on several stages around the world due to his unique way of singing Mexican music. 

“El Potrillo” has sold 35 million records worldwide, leading to various nominations and awards received. Thanks to collaborations with artists such as Gloria Estefan, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Plácido Domingo, Rod Stewart and many more artists, Alejandro has achieved numerous No.1s on Billboard in Latin America, Spain and the United States and continues to take his Mexican culture with him on stages around the globe.

His recent album Hecho En México (Made in Mexico), has led to a Latin GRAMMY for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album, which debuted No.1 on the Billboard Top Album chart. This made him the first artist in achieving such milestones from various decades such as the 90s, 00s,10s, and 20s showing how he’s one of the many top artists conquering new generations from music today. Hecho En México has also achieved three consecutive #1 singles in the United States and Mexico radio along with the recognition amongst the Top 50 Albums of 2020 by Billboard Magazine.

Alejandro Fernandez is also known for his generous work aside from contributions to the Latin music. Alejandro helps those in need and has also helped support the Latino community and immigrants in the United States, making him the perfect candidate for the Latin AMAs Icon Award. 

His recent collaboration with Christian Nodal in the song “Duele,” has gained much attention, surpassing the 20 million streams across digital platforms after its release a few weeks ago.

The Latin AMAs will take place on Thursday, April 15 as it broadcasts live from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida starting at 7pm/6c on Telemundo.
