Anuel AA is not only a singer with many emotions, but he is also a supporter of women’s sports. He announced on September 2 that he is becoming the main sponsor of the Women’s National Superior Basketball League in Puerto Rico. The players will now wear a logo with Anuel’s iconic phrase, “Real Hasta La Muerte,” which translates to “real until death” on their uniforms.
Already an investor in a local basketball team – he is the owner of the Capitanes de Arecibo of the National Superior Basketball League of Puerto Rico – Anuel couldn’t help but want to help the talented female athletes as well, who after a year of hiatus due to the pandemic, will begin their tournament on September 4.
“I am very happy to be able to help the development of women’s basketball in Puerto Rico,” said Anuel. “We have a lot of talent in the country that needs support, and I am more than proud to be part of this and continue with the legacy of this league that even went to the Olympics this year. We are very proud of them and of the many wins that are to come,”
Last week on August 23, Anuel released his most honest and emotional song, “23 Preguntas,” dedicated to his ex-girlfriend, Karol G. The slow-tempo reggaetón features romantic lyrics that compare a past relationship with famous events that marked the world. In one of his most intimate and personal masterpieces to date, which also features the vocal talents of Rauw Alejandro, “23 Preguntas” has ranked in the top 50 spots on Billboards Hot Latin Songs chart.
At this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, Anuel is nominated for eight awards, Artist of the Year – Male Hot Latin Song, Top Latin Album of the Year – Emmanuel, Top Latin Albums – Male Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Song of the Year – “Me Gusta,” Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year (Solo), Composer of the Year, Latin Rhythm Album of the Year – Emmanuel, and Artist of the Year.
His second studio album release in 2020, Emmanuel, debuted at no.8 on Billboards Top 200 chart and no.1 on both Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums. Additionally, 14 out of the 22 tracks made it to the Hot Latin Songs chart, with two of the songs reaching the top 10 spots, helping the album become the second Best Selling Latin Album in the US.
