Warner Bros. has released the trailer of the upcoming DC animated film, Batman: Soul of the Dragon. The clip features the caped crusader traveling back in time to the swinging 1970s of Gotham City. As an alarming threat poses from his past, Batman employs allies to battle beside him.

Bruce Wayne is urged to venture off and find O-Sensei at his obscure martial arts training school. The plot entails the adventures of Batman after teaming up with notorious martial artists from DC comics. Hinting at some violence, the movie is credited as being rated R.

Soul of the Dragon is an all-new original film directed and produced by Sam Liu. It is not based off or layered by any previous comic book stories.

This official synopsis highlights more of the film’s plot:

“Set in the midst of the swinging 1970s, this Elseworlds adventure finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. The lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past. It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, and Lady Shiva and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!”

The trailer is preparing fans for the arrival of the film early next year. To kick-start 2021, the motion-picture film will be out on digital HD starting January 12, 2021 and on Blu-ray and 4k UHD starting January 26, 2021.
