Bill & Ted are making a comeback dudes!
After nearly 27 years since the release of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the third installment to the series is finally in the making.
Reeves and Winter are set to pick up on their iconic duo’s characters as time-traveling metal heads Ted Logan and Bill Preston.
The film will feature the duo as middle-aged men weighed down by their familial responsibilities still struggling to write the greatest song ever.
The duo will seek aid in their daughters, music legends and historical figures as they are visited by a time traveler warning them of the fate of their future. The only way to save life as they know it is in their ability to write the song.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Bill & Ted Face the Music is now in preproduction as the original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have penned the script.
The film will be directed under Dean Parisot who has previously worked on Galaxy Quest, Red 2 and Fun With Dick and Jane.
Scott Kroopf will produce the film alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh will serve as an executive producer alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr. and John Santilli.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!,” said Reeves and Winter in a statement to THR.
Reeves first spoke of the film in a 2017 interview with BBC saying the duo are “supposed to write a song to save the world and they haven’t done that. The pressure of having to save the world, their marriages are falling apart, their kids are kind of mad at them, and then someone comes from the future and tells them if they don’t write the song it’s just not the world, it’s the universe.”
