Ordinary WorldBillie Joe Armstrong of Green Day is going to have a pretty busy October. New album Revolution Radio comes out on October 7, A short tour begins for the band and now he will be appearing in his very first starring roll in the film, Ordinary World. The trailer was released today.

“The story follows former punk rocker Perry (Armstrong) who is ten years into his band’s ‘indefinite hiatus’ and is struggling with his adjustment to the real world (which includes working in his family’s hardware store). When Perry’s hotshot attorney wife (Blair) and precocious young daughter forget his 40th birthday, his brother (Messina) takes pity and gives him the money to throw a huge rockstar blowout in a fancy New York hotel. At the party, Perry’s punk past clashes hilariously with his middle-aged reality as he encounters crazy former bandmates and an old-flame-turned-manager (Greer), who offers him a chance to revive his stalled career.”

The film also stars Judy Greer, Selma Blair, Dallas Roberts, Chris Messina, Fred Armisen, Brian Baumgartner, and Kevin Corrigan. The film is directed by Lee Kirk and it is being released through Universal Pictures on October 14 in a limited release and via digital download.
