Star Wars Celebration

Carrie Fisher charms fans with raunchy Q&A session

Carrie Fisher entertained a packed house at the 2015 Star Wars Celebration with a charmingly profane Q&A session Friday afternoon at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Fisher, 58, could hardly sit still as host by James Arnold Taylor prodded for information on Princess Leia’s reappearance in the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Christmas day.

Accompanied by her French bulldog Gary, Fisher kept a tight lip, claiming she couldn’t figure out what she was allowed to reveal.

“I think they keep me away from stuff because they know that I have an inadvertently big mouth,” Fisher said.

Nearly 5,000 people attended Fisher’s “Date With a Princess” panel, learning behind-the-scenes anecdotes about her role in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

In one of the convention’s livelier discussions, Fisher recalled a wild night at the London home of Eric Idle (Monty Python) during the filming of Empire. According to Fisher, Idle had invited the Rolling Stones over on a work night.

“I said to Harrison [Ford], ‘The Rolling Stones are going to come over!’ We had a really early call. You had to measure it: the Rolling Stones or early call? The Rolling Stones or early call? Both! They’re a partying bunch of guys. I told you before I didn’t really drink. But to be amenable, I drank. I used to say I’m allergic to drinking. This would have been a demonstration of that.

“So we stayed up pretty late,” Fisher said. “Then we got to the set two hours later. We weren’t hung over. We were still in our cups! If you look at those scenes, Harrison and I are smiling when we arrive in Cloud City. Doesn’t that sound like a euphemism? We arrived in Cloud City where we were forced to go by the Stones.”

The famous “I love you / I know” scene between Leia and Han Solo was performed the day after, completely hungover, she said.

The iconic Star Wars actress wound up on the floor several times during the panel. Fisher eagerly sat on her knees as the big screen played the Friends scene where Ross asks Rachel to dress up in Leia’s infamous bikini and again to speak with a fan during an audience question.

She even tackled panel host Taylor to the ground after signing his shoes onstage. One lucky fan joined Fisher onstage towards the end of the panel. He asked for a selfie when she suddenly embraced him in a passionate full-on kiss. Hearts were audibly breaking throughout the audience.
