Chivas Fails To Score Against Sporting KC In Third Home Loss

The Chivas will start the second half without taking a shot-on-goal in the first half with Sporting KC attempting three at the back of the net. Starting the second half Sporting KC will start with the ball. 46:23 Sporting KC’s C.J. Sapong is able to find the back of the net with a header tapped past Kennedy to take the early lead in the second half. Sapong scores his third goal of the season. Chivas will have a scoring chance at the 53 minute but the shot by Nick LaBrocca would hit the left post and tap out. Denying the team the opportunity to even the match.

After the goal scored Sporting KC continues their strong defensive presence Chivas still looks for the perfect shot and is unable to take advantage of the opportunities KC has allowed them to have in the second half of play.

In the 65 minute from Ante Jazic to Casey Townsend receive the pass allowing Chivas another opportunity to find the back of the net. Townsend with a great look send the ball high over the net. Still trying to find a goal to tie this hard fought game.

As game clock reaches the 20 minute left of regulation play the Chivas cannot find a break with the team having possession close to the goalie’s territory twice in less than a minute. At 72 minute of Miller Bolanos enters the game to try to bring new life to the Chivas dismal scoring presence. In front of the 13,372 in attendance to tonight’s game Chivas still tries to attack the Sporting KC side with no light at the end of the tunnel as the door slowly starts closing on the third home game of the season. In the 79 minute Ante Jazic is substituted for Cesar Romero by Robin Fraser in the hopes of another change on the field with the hope that the combination of players will be able to find the goal necessary to bring this game to a tie.

As the regulation time ends and Chivas are left down one goal the referee’s give 3 minutes of stoppage time. The last three minutes before the door closes for good on the this match. Sporting KC relentless defense has mad it hard for the Chivas to find the back of the net as KC players play hard man-to-man defense cancel the hopes of keeping the momentum of last weeks win. It looks like it was not meant to be tonight as Chivas fails to score a goal for the third home game in a row. Dropping the third home game to Sporting KC 1 to 0.

Chivas Head Coach Robin Fraser said about tonight’s loss, “Felt like their was moments in the game that we could have turned into better opportunities.” Heath Pearce said about the match, “We make it really difficult on ourselves every single game, we played three games at home now with three losses, we need to improve a lot.”

The Chivas will now hit the road on a two game trip starting next week against the Portland Timbers on April 7, Toronto FC on April 14 and return to the Home Depot Center on April 21 against the Philadelphia Union.
