Chivas USA were able to win a hard fought defensive battle against the team that they share the Home Depot Center with Los Angeles Galaxy 1 to 0.

The lone goal of the match was scored in a penalty kick in the 72 minute of play by Chivas Jose Erik Correa. What lead to the penalty was David Junior Lopes received a red card for blocking the shot with his hand. The Gala xy were never able to counter the score the entire match. The Chivas defense played with a confidence that the team this season has been shown to have on the road than at home.

The Galaxy had their star player David Beckham on the bench for the majority of the match after returning from Greece late in the week. He was not brought into the match immediately following the penalty shot goal. Edson Buddle was also on the bench, but missing from the game was Robby Keane nursing right hamstring tightness.

The first half neither team was able to find the back of the net with strong defense that made the scoring opportunities few and far between. This was the fourth win in the SuperClasico series between the two teams. The Galaxy has a commanding record with 16 wins, 5 losses and 5 ties.

The Chivas will be hitting the road traveling to the east coast next week on May 23 against the New York Red Bull  at 4pm PST.
