Chivas USA Gets Second Road Win Over Portland

Nick Labrocca’s header gives Chivas the teams second road win in Portland

Chivas USA come into the second half of the match strong to win their second game on the road against the Portland Timbers. Nick LaBrocca header finds the back of the net to score to give Chivas the lead over Portland. The goal would also be what was needed to close the game and get the win.

Ryan Smith assisted on the play for the second assist for goal which silenced the Portland Timbers faithful. LaBrocca records his first goal of the season. Smith continued the hard play that he has been performing on the pitch. This is the first game of the season that Chivas have been able to break the one goal curse of the season. The team has now scored 3 goals this season so far.

What led the momentum of scoring for the goats started at the beginning of the second half. Chivas came out of the locker strong and are able to tie up the match. Alejandro Moreno was able to get the goal with a header in front of the net to the bottom left corner of the goal with an assist given to teammate Ryan Smith. Smith assisted Moreno with a cross pass. The Chivas started showing the great defense that they have been playing in this early season.

Chivas did not start the game well in the first half allowing the Portland Timbers to score at the 16 minute of the match. Kris Boyd found the back of the net when he shot the ball from the center of the box to the bottom right corner of the goal. Though the team started off very slow with poor defense.

The Chivas continue the road trip flying to Toronto to face Toronto FC next Saturday, April 14 at 1:30pm PST. The team will then return home to face the Philadelphia Union at the Home Depot Center.
