Comic-Con wows fans in San Diego

Thousands of fans gathered this weekend at Comic-Con 2015 crowding the streets of Downtown San Diego. Zack Snyder, director of DC Entertainment film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, unveiled a trailer for the film sparking excitement for DC fans. Actors Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) joined Snyder on stage during the Warner Bros. panel. Fans also had the opportunity to see the cast of the upcoming film Suicide Squad, where supervillains team up to take on a greater evil. David Ayer, director of the film, showed a sneak peak reel of the film during his presentation.

It was one revealing weekend for fans who among the thousands waited long hours to get inside their favorite panels at Comic-Con. AMC announced the new season 6 trailer for Walking Dead during their panel on Day 2 which will air Oct. 11 as a 90-minute episode. AMC added the premiere for a new spinoff set in Los Angeles, Fear the Walking Dead which will air Aug. 23. This new spinoff has everyday people who experience an outbreak and are unprepared; their first instinct is not to shoot people in the head or fear that they will turn into zombies.

Nearly 7,000 fans attended the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel on Friday night and were more excited after witnessing, not a trailer or movie spoiler, but a behind-the-scenes footage. This Star Wars reel unfolded the real sets and practical effects required to produce the films that many of us grew up with. Among all these disclosed trailers were X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool and the final Fantastic Four trailers presented by 20th Century Fox.

Sunday’s Comic-Con panel introduced the cast of Scream Queens series which premieres in September. The cast of American Horror Story also joined the panel revealing their character names for the upcoming fifth season in October. Although there was a lot of excitement inside the convention, many fans still enjoyed the outside festivities playing the all new zombie-inspired Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and running from zombies at the Walking Dead Escape obstacle course. Down in Petco Park guests visited Snoopy’s inflatable doghouse which was featured as part of the upcoming Peanuts movie premiering this November.

Fans who were ending their Comic-Con adventures and needed to escape the crowded convention headed down to the first annual BAMF (Bad Ass Music Festival) at the Ruocco Park in San Diego. This free and geeky event offered guests free beer sponsored by Karl Strauss Brewing Co. and a chance to join a Quidditch match with the US Quidditch league.

BAMF also featured talented artists who sang some Comic-Con inspired songs and joined Comic-Con cosplayers. Performances included Nerf Herder, the Double Clicks, Allie Goertz, Kirby Krackle, Paul and Storm, Mega Ran, the Library Bards, Random Gibberish, Eben Brooks and Molly Lewis. Stay tuned for exclusive interviews with some of Saturday’s performers at BAMF 2015.
