The lights dim to black, the first couple notes of “Lean On Me” start playing, and there is an anxious energy lingering as the house fills with screaming excitement for the main event.

Counting Crows walk on stage with an overwhelming welcome. Behind the band, is a wall of sporadic twinkling yellow led lights resembling bundles of stars. It is truly a beautiful sight of colorful beaming lights and the audience is in awe. Fans are immediately invited to reminisce any and all sweet and sour memories from the 90s with their classic songs like, “A Long December”, “Daylight Fading”, and “Mr. Jones.” However, the rock alternative band didn’t just play a set of songs that made them famous. They performed songs from recent albums like “Scarecrow” and “Palisades Park” which reminded everyone that their relevance is current and strong.

Counting Crows keeps their sound fresh with their killer ensemble of musicians. Guitarist David Bryson enthusiastically dances among the stage, Jim Bogios impeccably hits the drums, Millard Powers grooves on the bass, and of course Mr. Adam Duritz. With his infamous dreadlocks, Duritz, the lead singer and front man of Counting Crows, keeps the band sounding clean.

After over twenty years of producing music, touring, and performing the same songs, Duritz proves to his fan base that he still has the ability to evoke emotionally with each and every note.

Adam Duritz remains present throughout the concert giving Counting Crows fans moment-to-moment feels. His slightly frank, somewhat sarcastic sprinkle has always been his trademark of a real, down to Earth artist. He makes small talk conversation, “I can’t think of anything else to say right now” with his hands in the air and a gesture of pure bewilderment, he continues on to the next song.

Duritz is honest and it’s refreshing. Feel free to get a sense of his authenticity by listening to the interview below or at soundcloud.com.
