Former WWE wrestler, Dave Bautista has officially been given the role of Drax the Destroyer in the upcoming Marvel film directed by James Gunn “Gaurdians of the Galaxy“. The story was reported by The Hollywood Reporter and will play opposite Chris Pratt in the film.
Drax the Destroyer in the comic series began as a human Arthur Douglas, killed by Thanos, was resurrected in a super-powered warrior’s body so that he could seek revenge. The Guardians of the Galaxy will also consist of Pratt as Star Lord, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora.
The rumor was Jason Mamoa of the series Game of Thrones and the film Conan was the leading contender for the role. It looks like Bautista was the choice for the role. He was last scene on the big screen in The Man with the Iron Fist.
Marvel’s Gaurdians of the Galaxy is set to hit theaters on August 1, 2014 and will lead into the next Avenger film that is set to be released in the summer of 2015.
