The Art Directors Guild (ADG) announced this morning that Academy Award Nominee David O. Russell will be awarded the prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award on behalf of the incredible production design that his films have demonstrated. Russell will be honored at the 20th Annual Art Directors Guildâ€™s Excellence in Production Design Awards celebrating “From Silver Screen to Every Screen” which will be held January 31, 2016 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Russell has made headlines for directing and producing some of the most Oscar-nominated films in the last couple of years. He is behind Academy Award nominated films such as â€œSilver Linings Playbookâ€, â€œAmerican Hustleâ€, â€œThe Fighterâ€, just to name a few. These films alone have multiple Oscar nominations and winners, Golden Globe winners, and BAFTA awards. â€œAmerican Hustleâ€ is Russellâ€™s highest grossing film at $150 million domestically and $248 million worldwide. Actors like Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Academy Award for her role in â€œSilver Linings Playbookâ€, have been in multiple of Russellâ€™s films and have received multiple nominations for the film industryâ€™s most prestigious awards.
