Fat Wreck Chords, the record company from San Francisco, California started by NOFX frontman Michael John Burkett aka Fat Mike celebrated with a 25th Anniversary tour. The final stop was in Hollywood’s famous Palladium theater and a show that approximately 8 hours featuring some amazing bands on the label.
The show started with Toy Guitars, Pears and The Flatliners got the early concert goers warmed up for what was to come.Â The rest of the night became a punk rock fest that just kept building. Masked Intruder, Strung Out and Swingin’ Utter was an amazing transition from new to old. Lagwagon kicked off the final three bands and got circle pits started with the very first chord. When violins played, one of Lagwagon’s most popular tunes, began just blowed the roof.
Though that was not it. Early in the day Southern California band, Face to Face tweeted, “We can’t officially say we’re crashing the Fat Wreck 25th show in LA tonight. So we’re not officially saying it #secretset #fatwreck25” and that is just what they did crashed the party and emphasized even more the strength of bands that have been on the label.
The band took the stage by storm playing a short 5 song set. Though the band that started at all closed the night, NOFX the Northern California punk band closed the night with a set list that featured all their greatest hits. Fat Mike, Eric Melvin, Eric Sandin and El Jefe took the stageÂ with Fat Mike inÂ blackÂ lingerie and played songs from over 30 plus years together.
Overall, you site back and you look at the bands that have come out of this awesome label. Bands like No Use For A Name, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, Teenage Bottlerocket just to name a few. An the future is still bright with Toy Guitar, Pears and bands still on the label like Swinging’ Utters and Less Than Jake.
The 25th Anniversary show may have ended in the state but in November they will be taking a piece of the tour to Japan.
