Founding Member Of The Beastie Boys, Adam Yauch Passes Away

Adam “MCA” Yauch  losses his 3-year fight against cancer

Adam Yauch, 47-years old, known as MCA of the Beastie Boys has lost his fight against cancer this morning. Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland in July 2009. As a result the band had to cancel a concert tour and push back the release of a new album.

Last year it was reported that he had beaten the cancer but the news was exaggerated. Yauch responded, “Hello My Friends While I’m grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated. I’m continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.”

Just recently the Beastie Boys had been inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame but was unable to attend the ceremony. The Beastie Boys became only the third rap group to be inducted behind Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Yauch, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz, Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Michael “Mix Master Mike” Schwartz started the Beastie Boys in 1979 releasing 8 albums together with great hits as “Sabotage”, “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” and “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” to name a few of the bands great songs.
