Garbage is back and doing a club tour across the United States starting April 9 in Los Angeles. Garbage is the Wisconsin-born band that features Steve Marker, Duke Erickson, Butch Vig and lead singer Shirley Manson to support the long-awaited album, “Not Your Kind of People.”
The first single off of the new album, “Blood for Poppies” is currently able to be heard on the band’s website as well as the music video for the song. “The song is meant to feel sort of like an abstract dream,” Manson explains about the single on the group’s website.
“The inspiration came from a story I had read in The Los Angeles Times about the opium trade and also from watching the documentary ‘Restrepo.’ It’s not literal in any sense whatsoever but it’s a song about disorientation and delusion and the human struggle to stay sane in the face of insanity.”
The tour will begin on April 9 & 10 at the El Rey Theatre and then the tour will begin moving east as the band prepares for the summer European tour. The European tour will begin on May 9 and end on May 22 in Paris, France then return back to the U.S. and then head out again to Europe in June.
