Following his previous tracks “Prisionero”, “Timidez” ft. Natalia Lafourcade, “Calle Cima”, “tupenaesmipena” ft. Princesa Alba, “Buena Memoria” and “Confía” ft. Vicentico, he now adds “Kamikazi”, the newest single that accompanies this long-awaited release.

A new era begins today in the career of Chilean musician Gepe. After 7 studio albums and a brilliant career that has taken him to stages of the prestigious magnitude of the Viña del Mar Festival in his country or Vive Latino in Mexico, Daniel Riveros Sepulveda, Gepe’s real name, releases “ULYSE”, his eighth studio album and the first under the label of Sony Music.

The concept of this album comes from the book Ulysses, a novel by Irish writer James Joyce, and it is taken to a terrestrial journey to represent him as an empathetic character, who can sit next to you and listen to you in these complex times.

“The album has to do with the transcendental, the masculinity, and makes a direct reference to my grandfather who said, ‘I love this book because I don’t understand it’. I liked that; that mystery, the modesty before the epic, before the legend… it is a pursuit today of the masculine space: of lowering the fumes of the culturally accepted. It has to do with my desire to get closer to people with my songs and lyrics,” says Gepe about this new work that has been crossed by events that have marked the history of his native Chile and the world.

In creating this album, the Chilean musician worked with two producers –something unprecedented in the career he has been shaping since his debut as a soloist in 2005– so the creative and artistic process was divided into two phases: The first one took place in Buenos Aires with the producer and multi-instrumentalist Cachorro López (Vicentico, Julieta Venegas, Diego Torres, Miranda!, José José and many more). And the second phase was carried out with Cristián Heyne, an outstanding Chilean producer with a long career who has been working with Gepe since 2010 (Audiovisión/2010, GP/2012, Estilo Libre/2015, Ciencia Exacta/2017 and Folclor Imaginario/2018).

The premiere of “ULYSE” comes together with “Kamikazi”: “a kind of urban salsa with playful lyrics, of sound imagery based on a Latin American quest… The lyrics are simple, very random, with a lot of free association”, specifies Gepe, highlighting the audiovisual work as well that accompanies this new single, by digital artist Esteban Bustos, who also directed the clip for “Confia”.

Eleven songs compose “ULYSE”, which counts with the participation of Miguel Molina, close collaborator of the Chilean artist who oversaw performing different instruments for this recording.
