Gibson, an American instrument manufacturer most known for their guitars, has announced the launch of a new record label named Gibson Records. The 127-year-old company will base the new label in Nashville, TN, where their headquarters also operate.

Slash of Guns N’ Roses fame has been announced to be the label’s first signed artist, and an album in collaboration with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators is in the works.

“It’s an honor to be the first release on the new Gibson Records,” Slash said in a statement. “It’s a zenith in our partnership for sure and having worked so closely with Gibson for so long, I know they will be a label that genuinely supports their artists creatively. Not just me, but all the artists they choose to work with. It’s perfect.”

The album will also be produced in partnership with BMG, a Berlin-based music company that was declared one of the world’s most innovative companies by Fast Company last year.

“This is the perfect match between two global brands with an unrivaled reverence for iconic artists and respect to service their creative talents,” BMG’s President of Repertoire and Marketing in New York and Los Angeles Thomas Scherer said of the partnership.

The record label is the latest in a series of initiatives by instrument maker in the last two and a half years to promote their brand and reinvigorate the Gibson fanbase. These initiatives include Gibson Gives, the company’s philanthropic arm, and Gibson TV, a guitar-themed television network.
