In a article that was released on Wednesday, February 27 in the Wall Street Journal China it was announced that Hong Kong Disneyland will be adding the Marvel Superheroes to the theme park.
Hong Kong Disneyland,the smallest of all the Disney theme parks, will be the first of any of the Disney Parks to add the Marvel Superheroe characters such as Spider-Man, The Avengers and the X-Men. The Marvel characters will be in a special area of the park along with night time parade said Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang.
52% of the theme park is owned by the city’s government with the park making major expansions in the last couple years. The newest attractions to be added this summer to conclude the first phase of expansion with new land Mystic Point and the attraction Mystic Manor. It was reported that this past year Hong Kong Disneyland for the first time showed profit since it first opened the gates in 2005.
Marvel was purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2009 for $4 Billion and released last summers “The Avengers” that smashed box-office records. It was the first of the Marvel films to be released by Disney. The Walt Disney Company did prioritize plans to introduce theme-park rides based on Marvel superheroes to the Disney Resort theme parks.
