The Las Vegas group that has been taking the music world by storm, Imagine Dragons brought their Into the Night tour to So. Cal last weekend. The tour made a couple stops: first at the newly remodeled Forum in Inglewood Friday night then further south to the following day at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. The band consists of frontman Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman.

The electro-alt act have come a long way from playing at the small bar stage in the front entrance of O’Shea’s next to the old Imperial Palace on Las Vegas Blvd. They sold out crowds at both stops which they did not leave disappointed.

During the entire show the crowds were on their feet filled with Radioactive adrenaline as they danced and sang along. That’s the sure sign of lasting power from a relatively new band that has reached world-wide popularity with their debut album Night Visions, performing songs such as, “Demons“, “Amsterdam“, “It’s Time”, “Radioactive” to name a few.  The audience was an interesting mix of an all ages crowd, the band truly shows the ability to not just speak to one generation but to many. The synchronicity of all the elements raised the roof with war drum beats, fierce guitar and bass lines mixed with Reynolds’ vocals that put him up there some of our generations greatest vocalists.

They do indeed give you a modern sound inspired by legendary bands such as U2 and The Eagles. With that in mind, it’s no surprise the band covered Rush’s Tom Sawyer, getting cheers from the adults in the house who appreciated that selection and introducing kids to music they should check out. Reynolds nailed the beloved track with some pretty bad-ass vocals and backed by the band’s arrangement that breathed new life to a rock favorite.

It’s great to see a popular band, especially one played on rotations hourly while you’re flipping stations while in traffic on the 405, that can take that sound and translate it to an amazing live performance. That’s when you know that you’re seeing a band that has the staying power to do great things in the future. The tour is continuing around the country with Nico Vega and The Naked and Famous opening the show. Imagine Dragons will then head over the pond to tour Europe.

When they come to your town get a ticket and go see this band, you won’t be disappointed!
