J Balvin has released a new trailer for his documentary, The Boy From Medellín, which is set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video May 7th. José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, better known as J Balvin, is a Colombian reggaeton singer.
He has been referred to as the “Prince of Reggaeton”, and is one of the best-selling Latin music artists with sales of more than 35 million records worldwide.
Balvin includes his fans in his lead-up to Balvin’s massive 2019 homecoming show at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín, Colombia.The show also happened to show various protests throughout Colombia against corruption, and police brutality. This included an 18-year-old who was hit by a police projectile.
The new Boy From Medellín trailer shows Balvin coping with anxiety and depression that have plagued him for years. His nerves that he has before playing for a big show and crowd. The singer gets extremely intimate with showing how his life truly is behind the scenes. That many of his fans may not have known. He also shows his responsibilities as an artist.
“I need my city,” Balvin says in a voice-over in the trailer’s closing moments. “I need to feel this energy. No matter what, never pretend.”
