Marvel announced today that actor James Spader will play the legendary villain, Ultron in the sequel to Avengers. Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to be released on May 1, 2015 and once again directed by Joss Whedon.
Spader was most recently seen on the screen in Steven Spielberg’s film, “Lincoln”. He also has one three emmy’s for his work on “Boston Legal” and The Practice”. He also star in this falls new series on NBC, “The Blacklist” playing an international criminal. The character of Ultron Ultron is an indestructible, artificially intelligent robot that decides to take down the human race starting with the Avengers. In the pages of comics, he was created by Dr. Hank Pym, the Avenger known as Ant-Man. Dr. Hank Pym will not be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe until the Ant-Man film is released 6-months after the Avengers sequel. The story line seems it will change from the comic to the big screen.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will bring the Marvel Universe’s biggest heroes together again to face one of their biggest villains, with “Marvel’s The Avengers” director Joss Whedon returning to write and direct the sequel. “Marvel’s The Avengers” was released in 2012 and went on to earn $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the third-largest grossing movie of all time.
Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron will be in theaters on May 1, 2015.
