The cover of the classic Elton John track will be featured on the band’s upcoming debut LP, “Wicked Cool Records” set for a July 23 release. Speaking of the cover Kris Rodgers said, “Ever since I was a kid and heard it for the first time, I always wanted my band to play it. Then we did and it became this staple of our set. It’s so nice because it happened organically. We played it basically live in the studio.”

The band is formed of Rodgers as the frontman, Ryan Halliburton on bass, Tom Hall on guitar and Craig Sala on drums.

While Rodgers was the sole writer of previous albums, “Wicked Cool Records” was a more collaborative effort with Halliburton and Hall earning co-writing credits.

Rodgers has had an extensive musical career, from playing with country, reggae and punk bands. These experiences have likely led to “Wicked Cool Records” being the band’s most eclectic work to date.

Speaking of taking a more creative approach with the album, Rodgers said, “We took some chances we wouldn’t normally take on this record, and I think it paid off. For me, a big thing was to not shy away from trying something because it’s a little left-field.”
