The Star Wars Celebration continued Saturday with a sold out crowd at the Anaheim Convention Center. With dozens of panels and discussions to choose from, fans were treated to a special live audio performance by writer/director Kyle Newman.
Newman, best known for his work on Fanboys, presented Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty before a packed audience at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Directed by Newman and co-written by Newman and F.J. DeSanto, Smuggler’s Bounty stars Han Solo and is set during the events of the original trilogy.
The original audio play centered around the adventures of charming rogue Han Solo, played by David W. Collins. A veteran of the Star Wars world, Collins came dressed for the role in Han’s signature brown leather jacket. His previous credits include PROXY in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Darth Maul in Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
In Smuggler’s Bounty, Solo and his reliable furry friend Chewbacca were sent on a mission by Princess Leia to protect against the Empire. Spoilers aside, the pair find themselves in a mess that only his old flame can help them out of.
The performance also featured Celebration panel host James Arnold Taylor, Jimmy Mac (co-host, Behind-The-Scenes Stage) and various Clone Wars alums including Sam Witwer and Heart of Dixie star Jaime King.
The one-time-only live performance thrilled fans who demanded a follow-up to Star Wars: Smuggler’s Gambit, which premiered at the 2012 Celebration in Orlando.
