A LA VILLE DE L’AMOUR!

There is only one city of love, and we all know it by the name of Paris. France’s capital is number 3 most touristic city of the world, coming first London and Bangkok second. There is many things to do and see in Paris, but given the short amount of time I assume most people spend in Paris as tourists, I suppose people want to make the best of it. If you would like to spend a romantic trip with your loved one, there are a few cliche and not so cliche things to do that will make your trip worth it.

Visit Notre Dame Cathedral

Although Quasimodo is no longer ringing the bells, author Victor Hugo saved this cathedral from deconstruction in the mid 1800s after his romantic and gothic novel “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” became a popular read. Notre Dame Cathedral – meaning Our lady – is a fine example of typical french gothic agriculture, adding a bit of the romantic parisian feeling to your visit.

After walking around the Cite Island (Paris has two islands), some near by attractions can also consist of the Luxembourg Palace and Gardens as well, a great place to sit down and share a cone of the best fries in Paris from “Les Rois des Les Frites.”

Go Up Montparnasse Tower
I’m sure the Eiffel tower is everyone’s number 1 on the list; however, you cannot see the Eiffel Tower from the Eiffel Tower, which is why heading to the highest point in Paris will give you the ultimate view; The Montparnasse Tower. This 210-meter skyscraper provides a 360 degree view at an open panoramic rooftop for visitors to enjoy every last corner of the city of love.

Rent a boat at Lake Daumesnil

Feeling a little Nicholas Sparks? If so, heading for an afternoon to a not so touristy lake, “Lac Daumesnil,” in the outskirts of Paris will have you and your partner feeling like Noah and Ally. If The boat rowing and white swans is not enough, there is an island in the middle of the lake where, believe it or not, has a “temple of love.” Here you’ll find many couples just dreaming away and sinking into their romantic wanderlust.

Possess Goosebumps at the Catacombs
If you’re into some goosebumps, visiting the Catacombs might give you a thrill. Under the official name of “L’Ossuaire Municipal,” the catacombs are an underground ossuary holding the remains of over six million people. Becoming an early attraction in the early nineteenth century, the catacombs is the world’s largest grave due to the number of individuals buried there. This is a perfect place for an excuse to hold tight your loved one!

Climb up Montparnasse

You cannot feel Paris without going to Montmartre, culminating at 130 meters high, giving you a natural view of Paris. This place will definitely give you the true feeling of Paris, where many painters come and get inspired by the view they have. This is the perfect spot to watch the sunset, just steps down from the “Sacre- Cœur,” or Sacred Heart of Paris.

What person in love do you know that never carved the name of their loved one in their school desk, or a couple engraving their special date on a tree trunk? Well, if that’s not enough love, near the Sacred heart also lies “The Wall of ‘I love you’s.'” Created in 2000, this wall features the theme “I love you” expressed 311 times in over 250 languages! This mural is a place where lovers of all regions come and express their love for each other and find passion for one another once more.

Get dazzled by the Eiffel Tower

Of course the best is saved for last— La Tour Eiffel. The global cultural icon of France; the beautiful lady of Paris, this tower stands 324 meters tall. They do not call it the city of love for nothing. This tower will give you the most amazing feeling of accomplishment sighing, “We made it.” Kisses and a delicious crepe should be enjoyed near the tower at Trocadero— the best spot to enjoy the tower. The best time (in my opinion) is visiting right before the light begins to fade away, giving you a glimpse of it at daylight, as its lights turn on the hour, sparkling like the beauty she is.

If you want to experience a beautiful tour that you will enjoy, my suggestion would be taking a boat tour at night, when the sky darkens and the city awakens, illuminating every inch of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. A boat tour in the Seine River will be the best finishing touch to the romantic getaway you always imagined.

No matter where you goes in Paris, every corner you turn you will be fascinated. Even if they no longer have the traditional love locks available for the Ponte des Arts, this city of love will always find a way to make you fall in love with it.
