The Latin American Music Awards did not disappoint this year, with many American artists crossing over to the spanish genre — dynamic duos were made.

Hosted by Eugenio Derbez and Jacky Bracamontes at the Dolby Theater. Artists gathered to celebrate the Latin community. The show opened up with Jason derulo and Faruko performing their song “Mamasita.” Jason switched it up by singing Spanish throughout the performance.

Things got a little heated when Romeo Santos took the stage to perform “El Beso Que No Te Di.” The king of Bachata came out in a black throne only fit for a king. He performed alongside Kiko Rodriguez. Romeo won ‘Favorite Tropical Album and Favorite Tropical Artist.’

Many trailblazing artists were also awarded for their contributions to the music industry. Becky G received the Evolution Award. This award recognizes a new artist that has grown and made a positive change, while rising to fame. Becky G thanked her fans, family, and team for helping her through her journey. She also took home Favorite Female Artist award.

Marc Anthony received the ‘International Artist Award of Excellence.’ He has crossed borders with his music by bringing light to humanitarian crisis with his songs of peace. Actris Kate del Castillo said “He has conquered the world singing salsa, merengue, bolero, and pop. . . Today he is at a global level.” Marc gracefully said “Thank you, I would rather sing than talk, but I have to say that it doesn’t happen in one day. We have been at this for almost 30 years.” He then paid tribute to the late Jose Jose. Ending the performance by putting the mic down on the center of the stage.

Pitbull brought the heat from Miami to Hollywood with his new song “Me Quedare Contigo.” He brought out Ne-Yo, El Micha and Lenier for his “Bar 305” performance. Ne-Yo opened up the song and surprise everyone by singing in spanish. Ne-Yo confessed in a red carpet interview that it was his first time singing in spanish causing him to have butterflies in his stomach. The performance ended with Pitbull embracing all 3 artists.

Tonight was a night of achievement and community with the Latin and American artists who performed.
