Legendary Singer, Donna Summer Passes Away From Lung Cancer

Donna Summer passes away this morning in Florida, she leaves behind an amazing legacy.

Donna Summer (63), the queen of disco, passed away this morning from a battle with Lung Cancer in Florida. Summer was secretly fighting the disease while trying to record and release a new album.

Summer was once the biggest artist especially during the disco era. Some of her most famous songs that shot her to stardom in the 70’s like “Last Dance”, “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls”. Her hot streak would continue into the 80’s with song such as “She Works Hard for the Money” and “This time I Know It’s for Real”.

Summer once said about her success, “I love the motion of people trying, people growing. I want people to see that in me. I’m out here and I have learned that what is out here has to work for me.” In a press release from The Recording Academy president Neil Portnow said, “Her talent was a true gift to the music industry, and our thoughts and sympathies are with her family, friends and fans throughout the world during this difficult time.”

She survived  by her to daughters and her husband, Bruce Sudano.
