This year’s SXSW will be co-hosted by The Syndicate and Devil in the Woods in ‘Live From We Rock.’ Joined by El Shirota, Ruido Rosa, Los Blenders, Petite Amie, and Vaya Futuro.

Mexico City’s psychedelic indie rock quartet, El Shirota will be performing. In June 2020, the quartet released Tiempos Raros (Rare Times) after seven years of waiting for new music. This debut album portrays their own style of rock and exploration of alternative and shoegaze.

Becoming one of the few all girl rock bands to represent Mexico, Ruido Rosa finally gained acknowledgement after attending various contests and venues. Thanks to their recognition, the band has reached #1 in Mexico iTunes. This has led to the band’s music to be used in many Mexican indie films and ads.

Los Blenders first released Chavos Bien in 2015. After a Corona commercial with will.i.am., their indie-rock ranks topped the charts from a KEXP session. This led to a performance at Coachella. The band has been applauded by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Remezcla, along with many others.

Creating their first LP this year are Petite Amie, an alternative pop project by Carlos Medina. Based in Mexico City, this band is formed by Carlos (guitar), Aline Terrein (vocals), Santiago Fernandez (bass), and Jacobo Velazquez (guitar). The searching for the “self” in a detached world where real and virtual worlds combine, is what this group’s lyrics are based on.

Vaya Futuro was formed in Tijuana with Luis Aguilar, Miguel Ahuage and L.E. Ros. The band has released their fourth full-length LP called El Peso Del Mundo (The Weight of the World) and the band now lives in Mexico City. Trying out different genres, the band ranges from jazz, ambient, flamenco, orchestral arrangements and electronic experimentation.
