Katie Scarlett: M.U.S.E. had the quick opportunity to sit with local artist Katie Scarlett who will soon be performing in January 2014 at Molly Malone’s in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. We talk to the singer/songwriter about her start and the unique music that she is hoping sets her apart in the competitive world of music in Los Angeles.

M.U.S.E.: How did you get started?

Katie Scarlett: In 2011 I seriously began investing myself into songwriting as a career. Although I have always enjoyed singing, writing is where my heart lies.

M.U.S.E.:  What does your music most resemble?

Katie Scarlett: This question bothers me when asked, as I have no clear answer to give. I truly am a product of the music taken in by my ears thus far. If it calls to me, I listen or write to it.

M.U.S.E.: Who was your MUSE in your musical journey?

Katie Scarlett: My journey is far from over but up until this point strong voiced women have lead the way. Patsy Cline, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Kelly Clarkson and Stevie Nicks to name just a few.

M.U.S.E.: What is the name of your first single and where can it be found?

Katie Scarlett: My first single is called Forever and a Day and it can be found on iTunes and Amazon. Its video is up on my YouTube account as well!

M.U.S.E.: When can we see you play in the Southern California Area?

Katie Scarlett: My next gig is 1.6.2014 at 8pm at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles, California.

M.U.S.E.: What was it like working with RiotVan?

Katie Scarlett: Working with RiotVan came at time when I had really been thrown around by the music industry. They stepped into my life and helped put me back on track, musically speaking. Being professional and highly creative is how I like to describe them!

M.U.S.E.: Where can readers find out more about you?

Katie Scarlett: Please direct your web browser to katiescarlettmusic.com and let the fun begin!
