Los Angeles Dodgers complete a blockbuster 9 player deal with the Boston Red Sox
Since new ownership has come into Chavez Ravine the Los Angeles Dodgers have no longer been timid about bringing missing pieces in that may have large contracts. It started trading for Hanley Ramirez, then Shane Victorino and now a major blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox completed today.
The deal will send first baseman James Loney, pitcher Ruby De La Rosa, infielder Ivan De Jesus, outfielder Jerry Sands and a prospect to the Red Sox. The Dodgers will receive Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto.
Adrian Gonzalez returns home to Southern California hitting above .302 this season with 15 home runs and 86
RBI’s in 2012. Gonzalez returns to the National League West were he had his strongest seasons in his career while with the San Diego Padres. Josh Beckett is a right handed pitcher who has 5 wins and 11 losses  with a 5.32 ERA. Carl Crawford is on the injured reserve list who yesterday had tommy john surgery but is a powerful hitter and when he returns will be a force in the lineup.
The final piece in the deal is Nick Punto a third baseman from Saddleback Community College in Southern California who in 65 games has an average of .200 this season with 10 RBI’s. The Dodgers will have a very strong lineup that hopefully sparks an offense that has been lackluster and lead to the team falling behind by 3 games to the San Francisco Giants.
