SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIAÂ â€“ Marvel Studios began principal photography today in San Francisco, California, on its newest Super Hero franchise Marvelâ€™s â€œAnt-Man.â€ The film brings one of Marvel comicsâ€™ original founding members of The Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The production also shoots on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the filmâ€™s production.
Set for release in the United States on July 17, 2015, the film is directed by Peyton Reed (â€œBring it On,â€ â€œThe Break-Upâ€) and stars Paul Rudd (â€œI Love You Man,â€ â€œRole Modelsâ€) as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas (â€œBehind The Candelabra,â€ â€œWall Streetâ€) as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly (â€œThe Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,â€ â€œLostâ€) as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.

Based on the Marvel comic character first published in 1962, Marvelâ€™s â€œAnt-Manâ€ continues the lineage of epic big-screen adventures chronicled in Marvelâ€™s â€œIron Man,â€ â€œThe Incredible Hulk,â€ â€œIron Man 2,â€ â€œThor,â€ â€œCaptain America: The First Avenger,â€ â€œMarvelâ€™s The Avengers,â€ â€œIron Man 3,â€ â€œThor: The Dark World,â€ â€œCaptain America: The Winter Soldier,â€ â€œGuardians of the Galaxyâ€ and the upcoming Marvelâ€™s â€œAvengers: Age of Ultron.â€
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released Marvelâ€™s â€œThe Incredible Hulk,â€ marking its second number one opener of that summer.
