Originally from sunny southern San Diego, CA The Material veered a little more north to Sunset Strip, headlining at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA, Thursday night.

The five-piece rock/alternative band is fronted by female vocalist Colleen D’Agostino and includes Jon Moreaux (guitar), Roi Elam (guitar), Kevin Pintado (drums), Jordan Meckley (bass) all up in the ensemble.

With the band’s recent release of its’ sophomore LP – Everything I Want To Say (2013) and its’ baby LP – What We Are (2011) it’s safe to say that the band has surely incaptivated a plethora of fans throughout their mix of U.S. tours.

Everything I Want To Say,’ is a collection of thoughts and memories over the past two years. Although it shows a much more raw and personal side of The Material, my hope is that it will be relatable to anyone who has ever experienced the love, loss, inspiration and desperation described in my lyrics. This album is a journey through our growth as a band over the years, and in my mind, is a more real rock take on anything we have ever done. New sounds aside, the album still echoes back to what we have always been about as a band – sharing the sometimes harsh realities with our listeners, but always with a silver lining.” – D’Agostino

The band closed up the night at HOB Sunset with their enticing set. Driven by powerhouse vocals via D’Agostino, all intertwined with precision drumming, melodic guitar riffs and driving bass lines, ensures for a happy crowd.

The band played one of their singles from their latest LP – Everything I Want to Say entitled “Life Vest” amongst a few other Material hits such as “Let Me in Again” and “Bottles” all while a happy crowd sang and bobbed along.

The band has been dubbed by MF Magazine as, “smashing,” and highlighted by renowned media outlets such as Alternative Press, Music Connection, Beatweek Magazine, Black Velvet Magazine, Substream Music Press and even MTV.
