For those gloomy fans who are still upset about Futurama not being renewed for another season, you might want to get your calendars and Netflix accountready. The new fantasy show Disenchantment, is set for debut on August 17th. And the creators have announced they will be using the same studio used for Futurama, Rough Draft Studios, to create a 10-episode first season.
The new fantasy show takes on a “shambolic” medieval kingdom called Dreamland, according to Entertainment weekly. It will star a hard-drinking princess by the name of Bean, with voice talent by Abbi Jacobson.
Like any protagonist, there needs to be a feisty companion, Elfo, voiced by Nat Faxon and her personal demon Luci, Eric Andre. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of other human creatures.
“Ultimately,” said Groening in a statement last year, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
There will be additional voice appearances by: John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. Groening is executive producing the series along with Josh Weinstein.
