National Geographic presents a never before seen two hour inside access special, North Korea: Inside The Mind of a Dictator, Airing Monday January 18, at 8/7c. North Korea: Inside The Mind of a Dictator chronicles the life of Kim Jong Un and the regime dynasty of the Kim family. This two hour all access will give very detailed information about his life in phases. Also including exclusive interviews with numerous people who are very pivotal in the upbringing and reign of Kim Jong Un. 

A story about Kim Jong Un’s aunt and uncle raising him during his teenage years before their escape to the United States. An interview with João Micaelo, a long time childhood friend who has visited Kim Jong Un in North Korea twice. 

An interview with Lee Young Guk, the bodyguard of Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un’s father. Guk claims to have spent significant time watching Kim Jong Un grow up and the rest of the Kim family. 

Another interview with Kim Dong Chul, the longest held prisoner of North Korea who was a spy for the CIA. 

An in depth look into the summit of Hanoi where President Trump and Kim Jong Un had negotiations about a peace treaty. Coupled with criticism towards President Trump on the summit, from former Ambassador and National Security Advisor John Bolton. 

Last but not least an in depth interview with one of the assassins to Kim Jung Un’s half brother, Kim Jong Nam. Siti Aisyah, tells her side of the story in grave detail. According to The Guardian, Siti Aisyah and Doan Thi Huong were the only ones charged for murder with Siti Aisyah later having all her charges dropped as of March 2019. 

There will also be coverage on Kim Yo Jung the sister of Kim Jong Un and how she maintains a tight grip of the regime. It details her rise to power as being second in command and how she uses violence and fear to maintain order throughout the country.
