On September 16 we finally see the high definition Blu-Ray release of the Star Wars films in a new box set. Though what has been done by directed George Lucas in the past of tinkering with his film as was done with the special edition is being done again except in a good way. If your thinking if Lucas is putting back the scene of Greedo shooting first at Han Solo, your wrong.
These corrections make the film better and will be great addition to the Blu-Ray. The scenes being corrected are with the Lightsabers in the DVD version were said to be to light and not as bright as in the prequel trilogy. The have corrected that problem making them more vibrant by putting more white in the center of the blade to radiate the power of the color. In the picture below show a scene in Episode VI: Return of The Jedi with the changes.
In another scene from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in the beginning of the film there is a scene in which Luke Skywalker is riding in his Tauntaun and is attacked by a Wampa, a giant monster that lives in the snowy planet of Hoth. In the film if you look very close to the lower left frame you will notice the arm of the person swinging the Wampa arm at Luke. In the Blu-Ray version they corrected that flaw that has been in the film for over 30 years and can be seen below.
One of the final scenes corrected on the HD version is in the newer trilogy with Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In the first of the prequel films they made a hand puppet for Yoda, the Jedi Master, with a younger look to meet the time frame of the first film. In the other films they used a digital Yoda. The look of the Yoda was not up to par of the fans and George Lucas as well since the puppet looked very stiff and didn’t convey the image of the legendary Star Wars character. So they fixed that situation with replacing the puppet with a computer animation of Yoda that is in sync with the other films.
The Blu-Ray version of the Star Wars saga will be released on September 16 at all major retail and online outlets with over 40 hours of new features and content never before scene. New deleted scenes and alternate scenes, cinematic and documentaries on the making of the films. One of the scenes that was show at least years Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando was a scene in which Luke Skywalker is constructing a new lightsaber in the beginning of Return of the Jedi. This new set should be a great collection for all the home movie fans who want to watch this great film series in the best picture quality available today.
