NOFX Drops New EP – Stoke Extinguisher with Fat Wreck Chords

NOFKWell, well, renowned Los Angeles-bred/San Francisco-migrated punkers of NOFX have just released their latest EP – Stoke Extinguisher this morning with none other than Fat Mike’s (vocalist) label Fat Wreck Chords.

The EP is available as a six-song CD and a two-song 7″. Both versions feature the single, “Stoke Extinguisher”, as well as “The Shortest Pier”, which was originally recorded by the late Tony Sly and then covered by the boys of NOFX for The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute.

The rest of the tracks on the CD are B-sides collected from singles from the band’s most recent full length and acclaimed LP – Self Entitled (2012).

The single “Stoke Extinguisher” is the first taste of new material since the bands’ Self Entitled LP.

Let’s also note how the cover art featured on the EP was hand painted by Jason Cruz of Strung Out.

Diehard NOFX fans were summoned upon by the band to create a video for their single “Stoke Extinguisher” as part of a contest. Only stipulation being that contestants would have no idea what the song sounded like while making the video. The only clues fed to fans participating were this is a “fast part” and this is a “slow part”.

The contest is now over and NOFX have posted the first finalist of the contest. Some thoughts on the fans entries from the man, Fat Mike:

“After countless submissions, and hours of watching ALL the vids in their entirety, and yes, we even watched the full THREE minutes of a slug crawling up a wall (thanks for that), we’ve narrowed it down to three winners. We’ll be rolling all three out over the next couple weeks and we’re starting off with a pretty fuckin’ cool display of lego wizardry.”

You’ll be able to vote for the winner once all three finalists are up.
