Paid Dues Festival, an independent hip-hop festival was unfortunately postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances.”Just two months after the announcement of the festival, South Central’s hip-hop rapper, Murs posted on his Instagram Thursday, with a caption saying, “Thanks to everyone who supported. You are appreciated.”
Ab-Soul and Lil’ Wayne were headliners for the two-day festival, featuring: Nipsey Hussle, Dizzy Wright, Raekwon & Ghostface, the Cool Kids, Mozzy, Jay Electronica and others. After being hospitalized earlier this week in Chicago, it has not yet been confirmed that Lil’ Wayne’s health has connections to the cancellation of the event.
The first festival sold out in 2006 with more than 5,000 concert goers, filling the Shrine Expo Center in Los Angeles. It moved to the Inland Empire, and toured the country annually until 2003. Paid Dues Festival would’ve revived on September 16-17 in Los Angeles after four years. Refunds will automatically take place if purchases were made through Eventbrite.
