Peacock comedy series “Girls5eva” renewed for a second season

The Peacock series follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the ‘90s who get a second shot after a rapper samples one of their songs. With the added pressures of family commitments, jobs, debt and the tell-tale signs of age, their determination to revive Girls5eva is tested.

Girls5eva boasts an impressive cast consisting of Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles, Grammy and Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry, Emmy award winner Paula Pell and New York Times bestselling author Busy Phillips.

In announcing the series’ renewal, President of scripted content Lisa Katz at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said, “It was hard to miss the immediate fandom that was born after the launch of this series. This aspirational comeback story is filled with heart and friendship, perfectly blended with catchy-songs and humor, and delivered by an exceptionally versatile cast.”

The first season of Girls5eva was “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, with the Top Critic rating it 100%.

Peacock and Epic Records released a soundtrack to accompany the first season, available for streaming now

Girls5eva is now available for streaming on Peacock.
