Photo Gallery: Vans US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach, CA

This weekend we saw one of the biggest events on the beach. The yearly Vans US Open of Surfing drew thousands the the beach to see some of the best Surfers and Skateboarders compete and excited the fans in attendance.

Some of the winners from this weekends surf competition were Kai Ellie-Flint in the Longboard,Meah Colling wins the Junior Women’s division, Cam Richards wins the Junior Men’s, Johanne Defay of France won the women’s division, Hiroto Ohhara of Japan won the men’s division for the week.

In the Van Doren Men’s Skate Invitational Ben Hatchell was king of the pool with a score of 96.56 with second going to Pedro Barros. Rounding out the top three was Chris Russell with a score of 90.31.

With a rich history dating back to 1959, the U.S. Open of Surfing boasts one of a few of North America’s six-star World Qualifying Series (WQS)-rated men’s and women’s events. Offering the highest-possible allotment of qualifying points and overall cash prizes totaling $200,000, the prestigious competition is critical to American surfers aspiring to reach the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) elite World Tours.
