KPWR, Power 106, LA’s #1 For Hip Hop, today announced that it will change its name to “Kendrick 106” in celebration of Kendrick Lamar’s first new album in five years.

Starting Thursday, May 12th at 9pm, and continuing for 24 hours, Kendrick 106 will feature content and interviews with Kendrick Lamar, new songs from the much-anticipated “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers” album, and classics from his extensive catalog.

Born and raised in Compton, California, Kendrick Lamar is widely regarded as one of the greatest freestyle rappers of all time. He has been recognized with over 160 awards for accomplishments in music, including 14 Grammy Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Music.

“We’re excited that the artist who has been such an important part of Power 106 and the LA Community for so many years has a new album,” said LA Leakers host Justin Credible.

“The Liftoff show at 9pm is where you can hear more Kendrick Lamar new music and exclusive additional content, on ‘Kendrick 106!’” added Leaker’s co-host DJ Sour Milk.

“Hip-Hop fans and music fans especially here in LA are excited for what Kendrick has in store for us,” commented Power 106 and 93.5 KDAY Director of Programming DJ E-Man, adding “Kendrick 106 wants to celebrate with everyone by letting the music of Kendrick Lamar take over the radio station for an entire 24 hours.”

Programming will include:
· New songs from the new Kendrick Lamar album “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers”
· Kendrick Lamar anthems and features, archives of his performances and interviews from his many visits to Power 106 at www.power106.com
· Stories that celebrate Kendrick Lamar the artist and friend of Power 106 from listeners and Power 106 on-air talent, including the LA Leakers Justin Credible and DJ Sour Milk, Letty Peniche and Teddy Mora from Power Mornings with Letty and Teddy, Bryhana from Power middays, and DJ Felli Fel in afternoons.
