Legendary punk rockers Rancid kicked off the 8th annual Musink Tattoo Convention and Music Festival Friday at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa.
The event, presented by Blink-182 drummer and tattoo enthusiast Travis Barker for the second year in a row, has attracted hundreds of music and tattoo fanatics as well as renowned artists from across the globe.
The Interrupters, a punk/ska band from Los Angeles, led the night’s musical performances, followed by Sick Of It All, a New York hardcore band.
Rancid singer Tim Armstrong led the band into a slew of classics including “Roots Radicals,†and “Salvation,†to the pleasure of the electrified crowd. The event marks Rancid’s first performance since the release of …Honor is All We Know last October.
Musink continues Saturday with Bad Religion, OFF! and Ignite. Blink-182 will close the festival Sunday night, joined onstage by Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio.
