The first full-length trailer for the Latin dance film “Shine” was released today. It tells the story of two brothers, both once popular Salsa dancers, separated after a tragedy but later reunited on opposing sides of gentrification.
The movie stars Dexter’s David Zayas and Orange is The New Black’s Alysia Reiner. World-renowned dancers Gilbert Saldivar and Jorge “Ataca” Burgos step into the acting scene taking the lead roles as brothers Ralphi Matas and Junior.
The trailer keeps viewers on their toes providing a gushing amount of excitement. Salsa music, New York City views, dance battles, and of course, a little bit of family drama are all of the elements we see. Gentrification is a growing issue in urban communities across the United States and the “Shine” trailer seems to touch on the meaning and commotion from long-time residents.
“Shine,” released by Forgiven Films, a division of GVN Releasing, won the audience award for best feature at last year’s Urbanworld Film Festival. It is set to hit the big screen nationwide on October 5th, 2018.
