Culturally Obsessed & MUSE TV were at Bar Sinister to celebrate the opening night of the 19th Annual Shriekfest. Shriekfest is an international horror/sci-fi film festival and screenplay competition in Los Angeles & Orlando! The festival was founded by actress Denise Gossett. Gossett came up with the idea after starring in the horror film Chain of Souls. She realized there was a scarcity of film festivals and competitions for the horror genre. She created Shriekfest in the hopes that young and upcoming filmmakers and screenwriters would find in it an outlet for their talent.
Shriekfest awards multiple prizes for horror films and screenplays. It also awards films in the science fiction, fantasy, and thriller categories. Prizes include trophies, as well as cash, product awards, and publicity. Shriekfest was held Sept. 27th-Sept. 29th at Raleigh Studios. The festival featured 10 full-length films & 4 Short Programs. Breanna Hernandez, Brenda Rodriguez & Jennifer Ortega interviewed some the cast and crew of some of the featured films including, Portal, Greenlight, Artik, and The Black String. They also spoke to some of the finalists, short film directors, and panelists.
